Purgatory Vintage Washed Graphic Tee

Purgatory is about purification rather than damnation.

The figure is being consumed by fire, but the fire is tearing away the flesh and bone, freeing the soul rather than destroying it. That is why I called the piece Purgatory.

At the bottom, “The Long Ascent” is a reference to Dante’s Purgatorio, where purgatory is imagined as a mountain climbed toward redemption. I liked that idea of suffering as a passage rather than a final destination.

I wanted the image to feel dark without making darkness the conclusion. The subject is religious, but the visual language comes from record art, underground shirts, and the kind of heavy graphics that make you look twice.

The shirt itself is a substantial vintage-washed cotton tee with hand-finished distressing. The wash and frayed details give each piece slightly different worn character rather than a perfectly uniform factory finish.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low. Iron at low temperature and avoid ironing directly over the print. Do not dry clean.

This product is made after an order is placed. Producing on demand reduces the need to hold large amounts of unsold inventory.
